Via user's IP address, Google (et.al) attempts to pinpoint an user's location. When using Google's local news, this generally points to a IP address's location.
Being on Exede-5, WB-1: Beam 163, the range of locations are in western states, but today, an IP address associated with Anik-F2's Laredo, TX earth station is being used. Someone around Medford, MA., may have been using this IP address, since Medford and Boston news shows up on Google's local news.
I conclude,
1. Laredo's traffic is being sent to Denver for processing,
2. IP address was re-assigned to Denver's server.
3. Google SNAFU, or miscalcuation
Wild Guess - One of VS-2's earth station is/has been setup in Laredo, TX. When Wildblue started, traffic from Laredo was sent to Dallas area for processing, iirc. Dallas has server farms there. Since this IP address is coming out of Denver, this suggests some-or all overtime-of Laredo's IPs were re-assigned to a different location (Denver). If an user on Denver gateway was always focused on Boston area, then this would be a Google miscalculation.
