Hello,
I am wondering how Exede calculates your bandwidth usage based on the type of internet activity one is using on their system.
For example, Exede says that for some packages, unlimited web sites but streaming videos and social media, they monitor the bandwidth usage.
I have extensive experience with firewalls and network security, so my question is more technical. Do they monitor by domain accessed? TCP/UDP ports to certain web sites? How exactly do they determine what bandwidth to monitor?
What prevents someone from setting up a VPN account with a commercial VPN provider (like StrongVPN) and tunnel over to them and all Exede would see is PPTP/L2TP/OpenVPN traffic and thus get unmetered bandwidth? Would they monitor this traffic or would it be 'unlimited' at that point?
