I know it's probably comparing different sides of the same coin. I know some people that used HughesNet a few years ago - perhaps 5 to 10 years ago - it was really horrible. But there wasn't a lot of choices.
I've got a situation where I really need upload capacity - at least 5mbps would be ideal, 10mbps would be even better (it's for live streaming) - but there's not a lot of options for Internet at this location (nothing wired based). HughesNet and Viasat were brought up, but given the (albeit limited) experience I had with HughesNet I just don't know if I can recommend either to them.
A cellular based connection... works... sorta, OK at that location. Would I like for it be better? Absolutely. But it's cheaper than satellite, can be moved around if needed, and since it's prepaid there's no tying commitment. If I really knew Viasat (or for that matter Hughes) would offer a consistent and stable improvement, I might could recommend it. But I just really don't have a lot of confidence with satellite Internet. Sway my opinion?
