The company, which confirmed the layoffs on Thursday, said about 320 employees across all locations lost their jobs in the recent cuts. Viasat had approximately 5,400 employees worldwide before the layoffs.

The company, however, is a major supplier of in-flight Wi-Fi to airlines, with 1,380 planes from American, JetBlue, United and others flying with its technology.
Demand for air travel has plunged with the coronavirus shutdown, with many airlines grounding planes and canceling routes. In-flight Wi-Fi made up 10 percent of Viasat’s $2.1 billion in revenue last year.
