It's been suggested Viasat's WiFi modem produces heat, and slower WiFi speeds on SB2+ modem; their Afterburner modem produces more heat, btw..
As noted at Quora - "When a CPU reaches a certain temperature under heavy load - usually just under the limit where physical damage can occur - it will do something called "thermal throttling". This is when the CPU reduces its clock speed in an attempt to reduce the amount of heat it is generating until its temperature reaches an acceptable level, where the throttling stops and the clock speed is raised back to normal. Rinse and repeat."
Suggestion - Use a small house fan on SB2+, and see if a speed difference exists
