I run a small business from my home, which is located in the boonies (outside of Nacogdoches in East Texas) so finding decent internet for me has been an adventure, I started out with dial-up years ago and in 2010 switched to Virgin Mobile broadband 2 go with a cradlepoint router, at first my service was wonderful, I signed up to the $40 UL plan as soon as it was offered and I have been relatively happy until lately. For days on end I couldn't get a page to load, if you are running a business from home this is more frustrating than just not being able to do facebook. I checked into Hughes.net a year ago and was scared away by bad reviews, did the same with Exede a few months ago...I signed up for a 5 GB hot spot on my iphone through AT&T but that has been useless, mostly because I can't get a signal strong enough to finish a phone call much less internet service. I was called back by an Exede salesperson on a day when I couldn't get any work done and this time I was interested. I placed a call to Virgin Mobile to give them a chance to fix the problems I was having, their solution was for me to take my computer outside and see if that would help my signal... I can't work sitting outside on the porch everyday. For years I had my computer in the same spot and although the signal wasn't great, I could get my work done. I checked the reviews on Exede again and I still heard horror stories, customers using up all 10 GB of service in just a few days, but I was at my wits end so I decided to take a chance. Although the service guy was hours late he made it here on the day I was scheduled , July 18 and he got everything hooked up in less than an hour. We seldom play any u tube clips, no online videos or movies (we have DirectTV) and although we play games, we don't play any online games but I was still concerned about how long the 10 GB would last, people on the forums have reported doing none of these things and still using up all their data in just a few days, I'm on my computer up to 20 hours a day, 7 days a week and my son who lives in the garage apartment also has his own online business, I have a daughter with an ipod and visiting grandchildren with ipod and ipad's, they've used it some but mostly I try to get them to use the VM BB 2 go service (when they can get it to connect). I'm happy to report that after a week and a half of service we have only use 2 GB of service and it is very fast, I bought an ASUS RT-N56U router and although I know I could have went cheaper, I heard a lot of good things about this router. I told my family that they could use the Exede internet for U tube, movies, online games or downloads only after 12 midnight... so far I'm the only one up that late at night and I've enjoyed catching up on some missed TV shows. I just wanted anyone thinking of signing up with Exede to know that there are people that are very happy with the service and with Exede's customer service. I've cancelled my AT&T hotspot but I may keep the VM BB2 go service for the kids and to use when I'm away from home.
